EUGENE, Ore. -At the end of the second day of the Pacific-10 Championships, played on the par-72, 7,033 yard Eugene Country Club golf course, the Cougar men continue to sit in a tie for seventh with the University of California.

"We've played three good rounds so far," said Head Golf Coach Walt Williams. "This is a strong conference and all the other teams are playing well, too, which makes it hard to move up in the standings."

Leading the Cougars is redshirt senior Jordan Madison. A score of 74 in the third round helped move Madison up to a tie for 19th with a score of 217 (+1). In a tie for 22nd is senior Chris Collins and freshman Austin Hurt, both with scores of 218 (+2). Collins shot a 75 in the third round while Hurt posted a 73.

Junior Jordan Mason shot his best round of the tournament with a 73, bringing his overall score up to 226 (+10). Freshmen Nick Grigsby and Kevin Tucker both finished the second day with matching scores of 227 (+11), and third round scores of 74 and 73 respectively.

"I'm really proud of the way we're playing," Williams said. "We're playing as good as we have all year and our young players did especially well today."

As a team the Cougars shot a 367 in the third round. The men will complete the final round of the tournament tomorrow morning.
