WSU extended it lead to double figures at 20-9 before SJSU went on an 8-0 run to slice its deficit to 20-17 with 6:27 remaining in the first half; however, WSU withstood the Spartans' rally and ended the opening 20 minutes with a 33-24 lead.

SJSU cut the Cougars' lead to seven at 35-28 during the opening moments of the second half but WSU went on another 10-2 run to extend its lead to double figures at 45-30 with 15:29 remaining in the game. The closest the Spartans would get the rest of the way would be eight points.
