PORTLAND, Ore. - The Washington State University varsity women's rowing team finished racing at the Portland Loop regatta Saturday. The Cougars raced three eights and two fours and posted the top three women's times of the regatta.
The Cougars' varsity eight completed the 4.5-mile course in a time of 22:47.22, the top women's time of the day. The A and B boats followed suit with the second and third fastest times of the day. Washington State's B boat posted a time of 23:16.32, closely followed by the A boat in 24:51.14. All three Cougar boats posted faster times than the other two college competitors, Gonzaga and the University of Oregon Club Sports Crew.
Later in the day, WSU also launched two varsity fours, which also took the top two spots in their respective class (women's fours). The A boat posted a time of 26:51.57 and was closely followed by the B boat of a time of 27:03.14. Both boats finished the course faster than the lone other collegiate women's four, the University of Oregon Club Sports Crew.
Washington State's varsity team competed this morning at 9 a.m. in the Portland Fall Classic at Vancouver Lake, Wash. WSU faced their first Pacific-12 competitor of the 2011-12 season, as Oregon State was expected to race this morning as well. Results and a recap from that race will be posted soon. Washington State will wrap up its fall season in Seattle, Wash. at the Head of the Lake Sunday, Nov. 6.
