PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State sophomore outfielder Collin Henderson has been named to the Verizon Academic All-District VIII Baseball Team.
Henderson, a native of Puyallup, Wash., was the only WSU player represented, but was one of five players from the Pac-10 selected to the 11-player team.
In his first year of organized baseball since he was a senior at Puyallup High School in 1999, Henderson is batting .307 with 20 RBI as the starting right fielder for the Cougars. In the classroom, Henderson is maintaining a 3.69 GPA as a sports management major.
Henderson also earned the same honor last fall as a member of the Cougar football team and was also named to the team as a football sophomore in 2000.
Other Pac-10 players on the team include Arizona pitcher Chris Goodman, Stanford pitcher Jeremy Guthrie, Stanford infielder Chris O'Riordan, USC outfielder Michael Morales and Stanford designated hitter Jason Cooper.
To be considered for the honor, athletes must carry at least a 3.2 GPA or higher. District VIII consists of schools in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai'i, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and British Columbia.
