This Week: The Washington State Cougars host a pair of Pacific-10 games at Beasley Colisum this week, hosting UCLA Friday, Dec. 29, at 7 p.m., then taking on USC Sunday, Dec. 31, at noon.

Last Week Action: Last week the Cougars, now 6-7 overall, had a split decision against the Oregon schools...WSU defeated Oregon State, 58-41 while shooting 50 percent from the field...senior Kate Benz led WSU scorers with 14 points and seven rebounds, while freshman Marisa Stotler added 10 points...Cougar defense forced the Beavers to shoot 28.9 percent from the field...WSU then fell to Oregon 66-55, with the Duck's Eleanor Haring leading all-scorers with 20 points...WSU's Stotler had another double digit scoring points, tallying 14 against the Ducks...Amanda DuRocher found her shooter's touch, hiting four three-pointers and finished with 12 points at Oregon...WSU has won four of its last six games.
Scouting UCLA: UCLA enters Friday's game with a 7-7 overall record and 1-1 in Pac-10 play...last week UCLA upended No. 15 California in overtime, 77-68...Bruins' Amanda Livingston led six scorers in double-digit points with 16...despite not scoring a field goal in overtime, the Bruins were 11-of-14 from the free-throw line to out-score the Bears 11-2 in the overtime period...UCLA's efforts of upsetting its second Pac-10 team in two games fell short as No. 14 Stanford defetead the Bruins, 68-59...this season the Bruins are led by Linsey Pluimer (16.4 ppg) and Noelle Quinn (15.9 ppg).
The Series: UCLA holds a 34-6 advantage in the all-time series with WSU...the Bruins swept the Cougars in 2005-06, including a 73-63 win Jan. 14 at Beasley Coliseum...last victory for the Cougars over the Bruins, Jan. 6, 2001, as WSU routed the Bruins 74-52.
This Day in Cougar History (Dec. 29): The Cougars played their first round game at the Lady Griz Holiday Classic at Missoula, Mont., against the Samford Bulldogs in 1999...WSU defeated the Bulldogs, 76-49, using a 17-5 run to close out the first half and take the lead, which they would never relinquish...the Cougars advanced to the Championship game against Montana, but finished second place after falling to the Lady Grizzlies, 80-66, Dec. 30.
Scouting USC: USC won its final three non-conference games, including a 65-42 victory over Houston...the Women of Troy opened Pac-10 play with two losses against No. 15 Cal (62-53) and No. 14 Stanford (62-46)...USC was led by Eshaya Murhpy, who scored 22 points, three over her 19 points per game average...against the Bears, Murphy paved the way again with 17 points...the Women of Troy's Chloe Kerr is averaging 13.8 points per game and is the club's second-leading scorer.
The Series: USC owns a 30-11 advantage over WSU in the all-time series...WSU last defeated USC Jan. 4, 2001, in Pullman 79-78...the Cougs swept the LA schools during that home stretch in 2001.
Did You Know?: The Cougars 58-41 victory over the Beavers last week marked the first time since Jan. 9, 1993, WSU opened Pac-10 play with a road victory...it was also the first win over Oregon State since the 2003 season and the first time the Cougars beat the Beavers in Corvallis since Feb. 14, 1999.
Live with Stotler and Kelly: Freshmen Marisa Stotler and Nakejia Kelly are the top two scorers for WSU thus far this season...Stotler has recorded three double-doubles and has two 20-point games...her 10.7 points per game average is a team-high...Kelly averages 8.6 points per game.
Benz's Boards: Kate Benz recorded 13 rebounds during the Oregon road trip last week and now has 787 career rebounds...she moved past Jenni Ruff's 727 and sits in sole possession of third place on the WSU career list...Benz needs 67 rebounds to pass Janet Kusler, who is second on the all-time list with 853 rebounds...the school recordholder is Cassandra Overby (1981-84) with 875...Benz is also the active career leader in rebounds among Pac-10 players.
WSU-Washington Game Time Changed: WSU will host archrival Washington Saturday, Feb. 17. Game time has been changed to 5:00 p.m.
Cougs in the Pac-10: As a team, Washington State ranks second in the Pac-10 in offensive rebounds with a 15.83 average...Cougars are also fifth in blocked shots, averaging 3.33 per game...Ebonee Coates is fifth in the conference in blocked shots with 1.58 per game.
Coming Back: The Cougars staged the 11th biggest comeback in WSU women's basketball history, Dec. 2 against Eastern Washington...WSU was down by as many as 11 points in the second half against the Eagles before a 16-0 WSU run, which eventually led to a six-point victory.
Double Stotler: Freshman Marisa Stotler (Chandler, Ariz.) posted her third double-double of the season with 24 points and 14 rebounds in a 76-70 victory over Eastern Washington, Dec. 2...Stotler also contributed five steals, placing her fifth on WSU's single-game steals list.
Ferguson Returns: Adriane Ferguson's 14 points against Sacramento State marked the senior's first double-digit point game since the Spokane, Wash., native scored 10 points versus Hawaii, Nov. 25, 2005...in her next game, against Idaho State, Ferguson broke the fifth (pinky) finger on her right hand and missed the next 12 games.
Cougar Tracks: The 79 points scored by WSU against Sacramento State were the most scored by the Cougars since an 84-77 win over Arizona, Jan. 28, 2005.
Home Opening Triumph: With the win over Sacramento State, Nov. 17, the Cougars' extended their home opener winning streak to four...the last home opening loss came against Wyoming during the 2002-03 season as WSU fell to the Cowgirls, 82-51.
