MOSCOW, Idaho - Claiming five spots in the top 22 individual places after the first day of competition, the Washington State men's golf team shares the lead with the University of Washington entering Tuesday's final round at the 19-team field Vandal Fall Classic in Moscow, Idaho.

After Monday's action at the par-71 University of Idaho Golf Course, the Cougars posted a two round total of 558 (-10). WSU was one behind the Huskies after a morning round 278, but made up the deficit with a 280 in afternoon play. Junior Dustin White (Pueblo West, Colo.) led WSU by firing rounds of 67-70 to post a five-under par total of 137, one stroke back of Scott Carlyle (69-67-136) of the University of California (Berkeley) for first place in the individual title race.

"I knew we had the opportunity to play well because we are playing a course that is very familiar to us," said WSU Head Coach Walt Williams. "I am very excited because, in my opinion, Washington is one of the best teams in the country."

Senior Jon Reehoorn (Burlington, Wash.) goes into Tuesday's final 18 holes tied for seventh after posting rounds of 70-69 for a three-under par total of 139. Senior Jeremy Taylor (West Richland, Wash.) is tied for 13th at one under par. Sophomores Isaac Woods (Enumclaw, Wash.) and Ryan Camp (Spokane, Wash.) are tied for 22nd at one-over par.

While the men competed just across the border in Moscow, the women traveled to the west side of the state for the NCAA Fall Preview at the Washington National Golf Club in Auburn. Freshman Kim Welch leads the Cougars after carding a four-over par 76 in Monday's first round. The tournament continues with 18 holes Tuesday and Wednesday.
