LONG BEACH, Calif., - The Washington State men's golf team finished eighth at the Del Walker Intercollegiate, held at the par-70, 6,633-yard Virginia Country Club. The Cougars posted a team total of 1107 (+57), finishing ahead of Northern Colorado and UC Riverside.

"It wasn't pretty today. A lot of loose swings and some unforced errors that cost us in the tournament," said WSU Head Coach Walt Williams. "These young men are all quality players, so the swings and the touch around the greens will come around as the temperature on the Palouse rises and hopefully both happen sooner rather than later."

Freshman Kent Hagen and junior Branden Dalton led the way for the Cougars, both finished tied for 27th. Dalton birdied the third of the back nine in the final round.

Senior Nick Ellis and redshirt freshman Cody Robinson both finished tied for 42nd, ending the day with a tournament total of 224 (+14).

Rounding out the WSU lineup was junior Trent Sanders who carded an 80 (+10) in the final round.

The Cougars have a little over a week to prepare for the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship in Ball Ground, Ga., March 20-22.
