PULLMAN, Wash. -- Ronald "Jaycee" Robertson, a freshman who walked on the Washington State University track team mid-season this spring, will race at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend. The June 25-27 meet is being held at the Frank G. Anderson Track & Field Complex on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station, Texas.
Robertson, from Tacoma, Wash., is scheduled to compete in the men's 100m and 200m dashes. He has run a PR of 10.51 seconds in the 100m dash and a time of 21.00w in the 200m dash this year. Robertson also ran a leg of the Cougars 4x100m relay team which placed second at the NCAA West Regional with a time of 39.58.
The 100m dash prelims are set for Saturday, June 26, at 5:48 p.m. CT with the final set for 7:59 p.m. the same night. The 200m dash prelims will be run Sunday, June 27, at 3:25 p.m. CT with the final set for 5:54 p.m. that night.
The top two placers in each event will become members of the USA National Team and will compete at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Athletics in Grosetto, Italy, July 13-18, 2004. If Robertson does not finish in the top two in the dash races, he still could be selected for the relay team.
