Washington State (5-9-1) lost to No. 22 Washington (9-4-3) on a pair of first half goals Friday at Seattle, Wash. The Cougars are now 1-3-1 in Pacific-10 play, while the Huskies move to 2-2-1.
Kim Taylor scored her second goal of the season at the 10:02 mark from a Melissa Bennett corner kick. Jaime Carstensen got a touch on the ball before Taylor hit it inside the right-post.
Forty-two minutes in, Liz Taylor scored the second goal for the Huskies from a penalty kick awarded after Taylor was fouled in the Cougar penalty box.
Washington State outshot the Huskies 8-6 in the first half but Washington goalkeeper Kelsey Rasmussen recorded three of her five saves in the half to keep the Cougars scoreless.
Coug goalkeeper Katie Hultin recorded seven saves in the match, five in the second half. The Huskies outshot Washington State 17-14 and posted four corner kick opportunities, compared to the Cougs' two.
Washington State is on the road again next weekend traveling to California to play the Golden Bears Friday, Oct. 31 at 3 p.m and Stanford Sunday, Nov. 2 at noon.
