STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Kim Welch finished tied for sixth by firing her third consecutive 71 (-1) in the Stanford Pepsi Invitational Sunday, at the par 72, 6,107 yard Stanford Golf Course.

Welch, who was named a pre-season All-American by Golfweek, played extremely consistent golf and finished at 3-under par and was only four shots off a first place finish. Welch has now posted Top 10 finishes in her last two tournaments and placed in the Top 25 the last nine tournaments dating back to last season. Welch's total of 213 marks the lowest three-round score the Cougars have posted this year.

The Cougar team shot its lowest score of the tournament in the third round with a 309 and finished in 17th place. The Cougars were facing arguably the toughest field they have seen yet with six teams ranked in the Top 10 nationally.

Junior Jay-Lee Longbottom improved in the standings for the second straight round by jumping another two spots Sunday and finished the tournament with a 232 (+16). Sophomore Stephanie Parsley shot a 79 in the last round and finished with a 237. Freshman Heather O'Leary rounded out the Cougar contingent by shooting her best round of the tournament, an 82 in the final round.

The Cougars have three weeks off to regroup until they head to Nevada for the Rebel Classic Nov. 10.
