PULLMAN, Wash. - Freshman Jackie Albright tallied a match-high 17 kills to lead the Washington State volleyball team to a 30-20, 30-28, 30-22 win over the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Friday evening at the Hilton Arlington/UTA Invitational tournament.

The Cougars have now equaled their wins for the entire 2005 season, moving a 9-1 record. ULL dropped to a 1-5 record.

Albright, a freshman from Lake Forest, Calif., hit .469 for the match. WSU senior Kelly Rosin added 14 kills (.481) and sophomore Brittany Johnson contributed another 12. Freshman libero Kelly Hyder had a match-high 15 digs and junior Maureen Perez had 44 assists. Freshman middle blocker Cassie Robbins had three blocks.

The Ragin' Cajins were led by the 12 kills of Kim Rodgers who hit an outstanding .579. Rachel Mauti had 14 digs and Kendra Hall tallied 36 assists.

WSU hit a season-high .395 as a team and held ULL to a .144 hitting percentage. The sole stat category not showing a positive for the Cougs was the zero in service aces and giving ULL six aces in the 73-minute match.

"I think we passed very well but we did not serve very well tonight and we need to do a much better job tomorrow as we get ready for Tulsa and the University of Texas Arlington," WSU Head Coach Brian Heffernan said. "Both of those teams are much better offensively and defensively and we need to have our service game to help us keep them out of the system a little bit. That will be a big focus for us as we prepare for tomorrow."

Washington State plays the University of Tulsa Saturday at noon in the third of four matches for the Cougars at the University of Texas-Arlington Tournament.
