Men's Golf Earns Second Consecutive Third Place Finish

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Redshirt junior Jordan Madison finished in a tie for 9th to help lead the Cougars to their second consecutive third place finish of the season at the Cardinal Intercollegiate held at the par-72, 7,077 yard Cardinal Club Golf Course.

The Cougars, who finished third last week at the Northwest Classic, shot a 3-under 861 to end the tournament, just four shots behind 25th ranked Louisville and Marquette. The two ended regulation tied for first at 7-under 857. Marquette earned medalist honors after picking up a single stroke in the playoff round held at the 18th hole.

Madison's 3-under 213 marks his 7th career top 10 finish. He currently sits tied for fifth on WSU's all-time list for top 10 finishes. Sophomore Jordan Mason also finished in the top 15 knotted in a five-way tie for 13th (73-68-74 -- 215, -1).

Senior Ryan Witz shot his best round of the tournament in the final 18 holes with a 1-under 71. Witz finished the tournament tied for 28th. Junior Kevin Chen and junior Chris Collins rounded out the Cougar squad tied for 32nd and 40th respectively.

The men will return to action at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in Fairfax, Calif., Oct. 10-11.
