WSU will head west this weekend to face cross-state rival Washington. The series is set to begin Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Husky Ballpark.

The Cougars took the first game of a three-game series last week against Arizona State. Junior pitcher Eddie Bonine (5-4) pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits and three earned runs, while striking out nine in a 7-4 WSU win.

Bonine out-pitched Sun Devil ace Mike Esposito, who was the National Pitcher of the Week. ASU, however, rebounded to take the following two games of the series.

Junior third baseman Jeff LaRue continued his hot streak of late. LaRue went 7-for-13 in the series with a double, a home run and three RBI. LaRue is now the team's leading hitter with a .386 average.

Left fielder Justin Hart went 6-for-11 during the ASU series to up his average to .356, while center fielder Evan Hecker was 6-for-12 against the Sun Devils, raising his season average to .367. Senior second baseman Bookie Gates was 2-of-11 at the plate, but is still hitting .379 for the year.

The Cougars will send Bonine, RHP Brandon Hundt (4-2, 4.25 ERA) and LHP Garrett Alwert (2-2, 6.89) to the mound against the Huskies.

WSU is now sitting at 13-18 on the season and 1-5 in the Pac-10, while the Huskies enter the series with a record of 12-15-1 as of mid-week. UW has a series with UC Irvine prior to the set with WSU.

WSU returns home to the friendly confines of Bailey-Brayton Field Friday, April 19 to take on USC at 6 p.m.

COUGS ON RADIO/WEB: Cougar Sports Properties will broadcast WSU's games this weekend on the radio (KCLX, Colfax) and the web (www.wsucougars.com).
