LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The No. 15 University of Southern California volleyball team swept Washington State 30-22, 30-28, 30-25, Saturday night at the Lyon Center in Los Angeles.
The Women of Troy move to 14-8 overall, 10-4 in Pac-10 action while WSU falls to 8-20 overall, 1-14 in conference action.
USC's Bibiana Candelas led all players with 19 kills, hitting .367. Staci Venski added 16 kills and Diana Copenhagen had 11 kills and 18 digs while Katelyn Bishop added a pair of aces and six blocks. Debora Seilhamer led the match with 29 digs and Nena Siljegovic had 43 assists.
Brittany Johnson led the Cougars with 11 kills and Jalen Pendon had 26 digs. Jen Barcus added eight kills and six blocks and Kelly Rosin had a pair of aces and eight kills. Te'Ara Epps had five blocks as the Cougs out-blocked USC 11 to eight. April Lott had a career-high 18 digs and setter Maureen Perez had 35 assists.
"We played our best match of the year tonight, especially from the defensive standpoint and serve-receive," Cougar Head Coach Brian Heffernan said. "We passed the ball very well all night long and we played the best team defense of the year. It was a really great effort by our team and it was really great to watch our entire team compete as one unit the whole night."
Washington State plays its final home matches Thursday and Friday, Nov. 17 and 18, as Oregon State (9-11, 5-9) and Oregon (12-14. 1-13) come to Bohler Gym.
