PULLMAN, Wash. - With Thanksgiving on the horizon, the Cougar women's rowing team looks to feast on the competition in the Head of the Lake Regatta, 8 a.m. Sunday, November 12, at Montlake Cut.

The last competition of the fall season for the Cougars is a multi-race, three-mile event in which the varsity eight, the second eight, and the third eight will all compete. WSU will face the University of Victoria, UC-Berkeley, UC-Davis, Oregon State, Western Washington University, University of Puget Sound, Pacific Lutheran, San Diego State, Humboldt State, Willamette University, Gonzaga, Lewis and Clark, University of British Columbia, and cross-state rival Washington.

For WSU, this is the last opportunity to race in the fall after claiming the Head of the Spokane Regatta from Gonzaga a few weeks ago.

"Racing on Lake Washington is always a bit of a challenge because the course is wide open and there is a lot of room to wander around," said head coach Tammy Crawford of this weekend's event. "Washington has the advantage, as it is their home course. California and the U of Victoria will be strong, and I'm sure OSU will be on a mission. My goal for the race is to have our crews finish in the top three in their respective events."

After this event, WSU will close its boathouse until the spring season begins February 1.
