PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State women's soccer hosted the seventh annual 7-A-Side Classic tournament April 22-23, taking the tournament title and wrapping a positive spring season.

"With the sunshine, this weekend's 7-A-Side tournament was the best to date in my time here at WSU," said WSU Head Soccer Coach Matt Potter. "There were some outstanding games making for a competitive weekend of soccer. There are many people to thank, in particular the work of Lindsey (Jorgensen), Erin (Otagaki) and Cory (McCoy) along with Yas (Nomura) and the athletic medicine staff was first rate. It truly was a fun, exciting tournament to end the spring season."

The tournament featured seven-member teams from NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA programs as well as established club teams and consisted of 30-minute, short-field games played at Roger's Field and Martin Stadium sites.

"We are obviously delighted to see the WSU team come out on top and continue a winning tradition," Potter continued. "Their performances showed a maturity and consistency we have been striving for all spring. In many ways, I feel it was a `coming of age' event for the group. The baton has been passed on to the current players and the manner in which they handled the weekend showed they have accepted the challenge to build on the work of their predecessors. Let the true challenge begin!"
