PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University women's basketball player Lindsey Egeland has been chosen to the 2004 Academic All-America Women's Basketball District VIII University Second Team as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

Egeland's honor adds to the growing list of accolades for the senior from Missoula, Mont. Egeland, who carries a 3.82 GPA in bio-engineering, is a 2003 All-Pac-10 Academic First Team selection as well as a 2002 All-Pac-10 Academic Second Team selection.

In addition, Egeland is a 3-time United States Scholastic Achievement and All-American WSU Top 50 Student-Athlete (2001-02, 2002-03, 2003-04). She has made the President's Honor Roll every semester at WSU (minimum 3.75 GPA/semester) and is a Cougar Pride Academic Salute honoree. Egeland was also selected outstanding sophomore in the biological systems engineering department.

CoSIDA members in the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and British Columbia were responsible for voting.

Egeland, who walked on the Cougars as a freshman, is one of two players on the team to have started all 24 games (Kate Benz) this season. She is averaging 5.1 points a game and has reached double figures in scoring four times this season. She scored a season-high 14 points against Utah Valley State, Dec. 6 going a perfect 4-of-4 from 3-point territory. That marked the first time a Cougar was perfect from behind the arc with a minimum of four attempts since Tricia Lamb (4-of-4) Feb. 13, 1999 against Oregon State at Pullman.

The Cougars begin a three-game homestand Saturday (Feb. 21) when they face the University of Washington. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. at Friel Court at Beasley Coliseum. The game will be carried live by Fox Sports Northwest.
