Two Cougars Rest In Top-15 at Del Walker Intercollegiate

LONG BEACH, Calif- Washington State redshirt junior Jordan Madison sits in a three-way tie for fifth after the first two rounds at the Del Walker Intercollegiate held at the par-71, 6,633 yard Virginia Country Club, Thursday, Nov.3.

Madison carded two eagles and one birdie during the first round shooting a season low score of 4-under 67, and followed up with a 72 in the second round ending the day at 3-under 139. The Washington native sits just five shots out of the lead heading into the final day. Junior Chris Collins also found himself in the top-15 after the first two rounds in a three-way tie for 12th. Collins ended the day at even par after shooting a 69 in the second round.

Starting the second round in a tie for 40th, junior Kevin Chen marked up four birdies as he climbed his way up 14 spots to end the day in a four-way tie for 26th (75-71 - 146, +4). Sophomore Jordan Mason sits just one shot out of the top-25 after finishing the day in an eight-way tie for 30th (71-76 - 147, +5).

The Cougars head into the final round in fourth place at 6-over 574. The team sits in front of No.45 Nevada and No. 65 Long Beach State. Lamar, the defending champion, leads the tournament after day one at 13-under 555.

Freshman Max Reinland, in his second tournament for the Cougars, climbed up one spot during the second round to finish out day one in a two-way tie for 51st (77-74 - 151, +9). Reinland competed as an individual and his score was not counted toward the team's total score. Redshirt junior Chad Carlson rounded out the Cougar contingent finishing up the first two rounds in 65th (80-78 - 158, +16).

The third and final round of the Del Walker Intecollegiate tees off Friday, Nov. 5, at 7:00 a.m.
