COUGAR VOLLEYBALL MEETS NO. 21 UCLA, NO. 15 USC: The Washington State volleyball team, 8-18 overall, 1-12 in Pacific-10 Conference action, takes on another pair of ranked Pac-10 schools, this time in Los Angeles...Friday night, Nov. 11 the Cougs will be at No. 21 UCLA (13-8, 6-6) for a 7 p.m. match at Pauley Pavilion...Saturday night, Nov. 12 WSU meets No. 15 USC (13-7, 9-3) in a 6 p.m. Lyon Center match...in previous matches at Bohler Gym in October, No. 17 USC and No. 22 UCLA both captured 3-0 wins.

COUGAR COACHING STAFF: Brian Heffernan is in his second season at WSU (13-44 career record)...WSU's assistant coaches are Jody Garry (second year) and Ken Ko (first year).

WATCH COACH HEFFERNAN: Every Tuesday afternoon during the volleyball season, beginning at 1:20 p.m. PT, WSU Head Coach Brian Heffernan is part of the teleconference with a LIVE video broadcast on the WSU internet site of www.wsucougars.com.

LAST WEEK: WSU lost a heartbreaker in five games against No. 18 California...after losing the first two games 30-23, 30-27, Cal mounted a come-back with 30-12, 30-19, 15-10 wins for the 3-2 victory...Cougar leaders included Jen Barcus (15 kills), Te'Ara Epps (11 blocks), Kelly Rosin (8 blocks, 10 kills), Maureen Perez (47 assists), and Jalen Pendon (12 digs)...Cal was led by Angie Pressey (20 kills), Alicia Powers (8 blocks), Jillian Davis (24 digs) and Samantha Carter (59 assists)...No. 4 Stanford came to Pullman after a 0-3 loss at No. 2 UW...WSU won the first game 30-26 before falling 30-22, 30-22, 30-25...Coug leaders were Brittany Johnson (6 kills), Pendon (20 digs) and Epps and Barcus (5 five blocks)..WSU out-blocked Stanford 11 to 4...Stanford's Kristin Richard had 31 kills...WSU's .280 team hitting percentage was this season's best...only two teams have hit better than .300 against Stanford this season - No. 1 Nebraska and No. 2 Washington.

PENDON SETS SCHOOL RECORD FOR MATCH DIGS: Jalen Pendon's 35 digs at Arizona State (Oct. 27) broke the school record for digs in a match...in the earlier match against ASU at Pullman, the freshman libero tied the record of 34 digs in a match held by Kortney Jamtaas (2002 vs. Stanford)...her 442 digs is second-best in single season totals at WSU.

COUGARS AT HUSKIES TO BE TELEVISED LIVE: Fox Sports Northwest will broadcast the Washington State at Washington match Friday, Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. from Bank of America Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion...announcers for the match are Cara Capuano and Karch Kiraly.

ABOUT NO. 21 UCLA BRUINS (13-8, 6-6): UCLA takes on the Cougars after sweeping the Oregon schools, although the Bruins needed five games to defeat the Ducks in Eugene...UCLA leaders are Kaitlin Sather (4.03 kpg, 0.46 ace per game - Pac-10), Nana Meriwether (3.26 kpg, 1.63 bpg - Pac-10 leader), Nellie Spicer (12.36 apg - 4th Pac-10) and Jordan Smith (4.08 dpg - 10th Pac-10)...Head Coach Andy Banachowski (996-262, 39 years, UCLA and career)...LAST TIME - UCLA defeated WSU 3-0 (30-20, 30-21, 30-19 Oct. 14, 2005 at Pullman...Cougs were without offensive leader Jen Barcus who was suffering from a viral infection...SERIES RECORD - UCLA leads the series 32-7 with wins in the previous five meetings...WSU's last win in Westwood was Oct. 24, 1997 (3-1).

ABOUT NO. 15 USC WOMEN OF TROY (13-7, 9-3): USC is on a five-game win streak and has won nine out of the last 10 matches with the only loss to No. 2 Washington...other losses have come to No. 3 Stanford and No. 25 California...USC leaders are Bibiana Candelas (4.62 kpg - 5th Pac-10, 0.90 bpg - Pac-10), Staci Venski (4.29 kpg - Pac-10), Debora Seilhamer (6.53 dpg - Pac-10 leader), Diane Copenhagen (3.41 kpg), and Nena Siljegovic (11.85 apg - 5th Pac-10)...Head Coach Mick Haley (126-12, 5 years at USC; 900-206-1, 29 years career)...LAST TIME - No. 17 USC defeated WSU 30-14, 30-18, 30-14 Oct. 13 at Pullman...WSU was without Jen Barcus who sat out with a viral infection...SERIES RECORD - USC leads 29-11...WSU's last win in Los Angeles was Oct. 16, 1998 (3-1).
