PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University men's cross country team is ranked sixth in the West Region in the October 19, 2009, Division I Cross Country Regional Rankings after having a strong seventh-place finish at the Indiana State University Pre-Nationals Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana, over the weekend.
The Cougar men ranked 13th in the West Region preseason poll and have been moving up ever since. They spent the previous two weeks ranked tenth in the West Region after earning a fifth-place finish at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The WSU men will carry this ranking into the Pacific-10 Championships October 30, 2009, in Long Beach, California.
The West Region includes the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, and Idaho. The Pac-10 is well represented in the West Region rankings with Stanford, Oregon, Washington, and Arizona State ranking in the top five along with Portland State. WSU is ahead of other Pac-10 foes including California (9th), and unranked Arizona, Southern California, and UCLA.
