COUGARS RETURN TO PAC-10 SLATE AGAINST ASU: WSU receives a visit this weekend from Arizona State, which is currently ranked No. 15 by Collegiate Baseball Weekly. All three games, beginning Friday, will be played at Bailey-Brayton Field in Pullman.

The Cougars are coming off a series with visiting Pace University last weekend. The Cougars took two games of the three-game set from the visiting Setters of Pleasantville, New York. The first win, a 13-4 decision Friday, snapped WSU's nine-game losing streak.

The Cougars face an Arizona State team that took two of three from Washington last weekend to run its record to 20-10 on the season.

WSU will throw right-handed pitchers Eddie Bonine (4-4, 6.19 ERA), Brandon Hundt (4-2, 3.83) and lefty Garrett Alwert (2-1, 6.00) against the Sun Devils.

At the plate third baseman Jeff LaRue went 8-for-9 last week against Pace to boost his season average to .366. Second baseman Bookie Gates continues his stellar senior season, currently leading the team in average (.400), hits (42), doubles (11) and RBI (25).

The Cougars will return to the road next week with a three-game set against cross-state rival Washington, beginning Friday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m.
