WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Senior Maggie Dougher and junior Ashley Johnson each earned 2009 Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic First Team honors. The duo headlines 11 Cougars garnering conference academic accolades.

It is the first time since 2004 that WSU placed two student-athletes on the first team. The Cougars have had at least seven team members receive an academic award in each of Cougar Head Coach Matt Potter's seven seasons on the Palouse. This is the sixth time the Cougars have had double-digit honorees under Potter.

Dougher has a 3.79 grade point average (GPA) in movement studies. It is her third award after being named to the second team each of the last two seasons. Johnson owns a 3.70 GPA with an undeclared major and was honorable mention in 2008.

Nine Cougars received honorable mention. Seniors Jenny Christoph (3.39 GPA, human development major), Kiersten Dallstream (3.36, wildlife ecology), Carly Dobratz (3.07, apparel design, merchandising and textiles), Elysse Van Leer (3.53, education) and redshirt-junior Mallory Fox (3.34, psychology) were honorable mention for the third-straight season.

Junior Emma Stolz (3.50, general studies) was honorable mention for the second-consecutive season and sophomore Megan Chapin (3.12, undeclared), Ali Fenter (3.35, undeclared) and Tiara Pittman (3.62, undeclared) were each first time award recipients.
