COUGAR VOLLEYBALL MEETS PAIR OF UNDEFEATED TEAMS: The Washington State volleyball team, 12-4 on the season, 0-2 in Pacific-10 Conference competition, travels to Los Angeles to take on No. 5 Southern California (13-0, 2-0) and No. 3 UCLA (15-0, 2-0)....the USC match is Thursday, Sept. 28 with a 6 p.m. start in the Lyon Center...Cougars play Friday, Sept. 29 in Pauley Pavilion at 7 p.m.

COUGAR COACHING STAFF: Brian Heffernan returns for his third season at WSU (26-52)...assistant coaches are Jody Garry (third year) and Ken Ko (second year)...Kirby Garry is the coordinator of volleyball operations.

LAST WEEK: Cougars dropped two matches to Pac-10 top-ranked teams...No. 6 Stanford swept WSU 30-17, 30-16, 30-23 Sept. 21, and No. 8 California left with a 30-25, 31-29, 30-27 win over the Cougs...WSU's stats leaders were: Brittany Johnson (20 kills), Kelly Rosin (19 kills, .310, 7 blocks), Corina Beyer (62 assists), Tara West (10 kills, 7 blocks, 3 aces), Cassie Robbins (7 blocks), Jackie Albright (12 kills, 13 digs), and Stephanie Weishaar (14 digs).

THE ABC CAMPAIGN: Cougar volleyball and the Breast Cancer Support Group of the Palouse, known as the Bosom Buddies, have joined together for the Attacking Breast Cancer (ABC) Pledge Drive for the fifth consecutive year...October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Cougar players will be collecting monetary pledges for each attack which results in a kill (and a point) for WSU during the seven matches this month...a total of $5,791.65 has been collected since the first campaign in 2002...players will wear pink ribbons to draw attention to the campaign...interested donors may contact the WSU volleyball office at 509-335-0277.
