PULLMAN, Wash. --- Washington State's Michael Bumpus and Ropati Pitoitua were named to The Sporting News' 2004 Pac-10 All-Freshman Team Tuesday.

Bumpus earned the nod as a wide receiver and return specialist, while Pitoitua was tabbed for his play along the defensive line.

Bumpus accumulated 740 all-purpose yards, including 391 on punt returns and 318 receiving. The Culver City, Calif., native reached the end zone twice on punt returns and once through the air, averaging over 10 yards per touch on the season.

Pitoitua was limited to just eight games in 2004 due to injury, but still managed 24 tackles, including 5.5 for loss and five sacks. The Lakewood, Wash., native also broke up a pass, forced a fumble and recovered another.
