LOMPOC, Calif. - Washington State's lone senior is again leading by example as Ryan Camp fired an opening round 69 (-3) and sits tied for seventh place after the first two rounds of the Bite Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at the LaPurisima Golf Course, a par 72, 7,105 yard course Monday.
Camp finished the first 36 holes with an even par 144 and is only one stroke out of the top five. Camp's 69 tied the lowest single round total shot in the tournament thus far and was good enough for him to be tied for the lead after one round. Camp is looking to move into fourth place all-time on WSU's all-time top 10 career finishes and top 25 career finishes.
The Cougars currently sit in the top half of the 18 team field in eighth place. WSU shot their best round in the second with a 300 (+12) and was one of only five teams to improve on their first round score. The team finished with a 605 (+29) for the day.
Freshman Kevin Chen led the rest of the Cougars with a second round 73 (+1) and sits tied for 37th with an 8-over 152. Sophomore Chad Carlson is tied for 50th, while redshirt freshman Jordan Madison is one stroke behind and tied for 55th. Paul Knue rounds out the Cougar contingent tied for 89th.
The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday starting at 8:30 a.m.
