TEMPE, Ariz. - Washington State All-American Anastasia Kostina sits in the top-10 after completing the first day of competition at the AS/PING Invitation, held at the par-72, 6,230 yard Karsten Golf Course, March 31.

Kostina led the pack of Cougars after firing a first round score of 72, to knot herself in a 10-way tie for 10th, just two shots out of the top 5. Also making a mark on the course is sophomore Tracy Broders. Broders fired an opening round 77 (+5), marking her lowest single round score since the opening tournament of the spring season, to finish the day in a 12-way tie for 50th.

As a team, the Cougars opened the tournament shooting a 308 (+20) on the day, knotting them in a tie for 13th, and sit three shots ahead of No. 22 Long Beach State. The tournament features 15 teams ranked in the top 50 nationally, including 10 in the top 25.

Heading into the second round, freshman Haley Parsons shot a career best 79 (+7), to finish the day in a tie for 67th, while teammate Jessica Black sits one shot back (80) in a tie for 73rd. Freshman Amy Eneroth fired an 81 (+9) to tie for 78th to round out the Cougar contingent.
