WSU Women's Golf Opens Season Play In California

MENEFEE, Calif. - The Washington State Women's golf team opened the 1999 spring season at the Pioneer Electronic Bruin Classic February 22-24 at the Menefee Lakes Country Club with a 12th place finish overall.

The two seniors led the way for the WSU women. Stefanie Coleman (76-83-77) led the Cougars with a tournament total of 236 and a tie for 35th place. Jenny Ballou (84-83-79), a Portland, Ore. native, finished second on the team in a tie for 50th place and a 54-hole score of 246.

Tournament host UCLA (919) finished in third place, just seven strokes off second place Pepperdine. Oklahoma State University (894) captured the tournament title.

Maria Boden (72-71-74) from Oklahoma State took top individual honors with a final score of 217.

UP NEXT: The Cougar women travel to San Francisco March 1-2 to compete in the Bay Area Classic.
