Sophomore Jordan Mason Nabs Second Top-25 Finish of the Season

LAKESIDE, Calif. - Washington State sophomore Jordan Mason's 17th place finish at the Barona Collegiate Cup marks his second top-25 finish of the season. The 54-hole tournament concluded Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the par-72, 7,088 yard Barona Creek Golf Club.

Mason sat in a tie for 25th after the first day, but his second and third round scores of 69 and 70 respectively helped him climb up the charts to finish the tournament knotted in a six-way tie for 17th. The sophomore's finish marks his second top-25 finish of the season and his third top-25 finish as a Cougar. Mason's first top-25 this season came at the Cardinal Intercollegiate, Sept. 26-27, where he shot the lowest round of his career (68) to land himself in a tie for 13th.

Junior Kevin Chen ended the 54-hole tournament in a four-way tie for 37th (213, -3) after shooting a season low score of 68 during the first round. Redshirt junior Jordan Madison shot a 1-over 217 to land him in a five-way tie for 61st.

Junior Chris Collins shot his lowest round of the tournament (71) during the third round to bring him up seven spots ending the day in a tie for 66th. Senior Ryan Witz's 3-over 219 landed him in a tie for 71st to round out the Cougar scoring.

The Cougars finished the two-day tournament tied for 12th with Utah and UC- Santa Barbara at 12-under 852. BYU led the tournament during all three rounds and captured the title with a 42-under 822. Fresno State and Louisville rounded out the top three.

The Cougar's fall season comes to an end next week as they travel to Long Beach, Calif., to participate in the Del Walker Intercollegiate, Nov. 3-4.
