Cougar Soccer Faces Second Straight Ranked Foe

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Fresh off a tie with No. 2 UCLA at Drake Stadium in Los Angeles, Washington State women's soccer concludes its nonconference play against No. 23 Santa Clara in Santa Clara, Calif., Sunday at 1 p.m.

Cougar junior Micaela Castain leads the Pac-12 in goals (8), goals per game (1.00), points per games per game (2.00) and game-winning goals (4). Her 16 points are tied for the conference lead. Castain entered the week tied for third nationally in goals per game, tied for fourth in game-winning goals, tied for eight in goals and tied for 11th in points per game.

Sophomore Jocelyn Jeffers was recognized with multiple awards following her three goal performance last weekend in the Cougars' prevalence over Hawaii and Idaho. She was named the Madness Women's Soccer Pac-12 Player of the Week by College Sports Madness and was included in the "Best of the Inland Northwest XI" team of the week by Inland Northwest Soccer News.

Washington State goalkeeper Gurveen Clair added seven saves to her career statistics in Friday's match against UCLA, moving her into sixth place all-time on the Cougar career list for saves with 112, while her nine shutouts are eighth in Cougar history.
