PULLMAN, Wash. - Shaya Schaedler has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete in women's swimming at Washington State, Cougar Head Coach Tom Jager announced, Wednesday.
A Gillette, Wyo., native, Schaedler has earned four varsity letters in swimming at Campbell County High School and she will join the Washington State swim team beginning in the fall of 2012.
"Shaya's a strong athlete. She's got a great personality and she's very individualistic, which we want," said Jager. "She's self motivated and she wants a lot out of life. She has a desire to be great and she's not afraid of the Pac-12. She is the type of athlete we are looking for."
Schaedler's many accomplishments include being a Junior National Qualifier four years in a row, a National Qualifier from 2008 to 2010 and named all-conference and all-state for each year of her high school career.
Schaedler was also named a USA Swimming Scholastic All American for the previous two seasons. She was selected as the 2009/2010 Wyoming Swimming Athlete of the Year and she currently holds 63 Wyoming swimming age group state records.
