SPOKANE, Wash.-- - The Cougar women's rowing squad continues its fall rowing season at the Head of the Spokane Regatta against the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Saturday, October 28, at 10:00 a.m.

The Cougar varsity and novice squads will compete in races that start near the Argonne Bridge and finish at the Gonzaga boathouse, according to Cougar head coach Tammy Crawford. The format is a "Head Race" which consists of three flights of races in a three-mile stretch.

Each flight will be composed of multiple events allowing the Cougar varsity rowers to compete in more than one race while the novice rowers will race once.

"We view this as the starting point of the season and it will set a tone for the races to come," said Crawford. "For most of them this race will be their first experience racing in a boat for 18 minutes non-stop. We will use this race as a stepping stone for the Head of the Lake."

The Cougars will conclude their fall rowing schedule with the Head of the Lake Regatta at Seattle, Saturday, November 12. WSU will compete against Washington, Oregon State, California, Stanford and San Diego State.
