Men's Golf Tied for First After Opening Round of Cuthbert Cup

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Washington State University men's golf team sits atop the leader board Sunday after the first round of play at the Cuthbert Cup, hosted by the College of Charleston.

In the first tournament of the spring season, the Cougars fired a total score of 292 at the par-72, 6,757-yard Cougar Point Golf Course and are in a three-way tie for first heading into the second day of competition. Freshman Nick Ellis led the Cougar contingent shooting a 3-under par 69 and is only two strokes out of the lead.

Sophomore Kevin Tucker and freshman Xavier Dailly carded a 2-over 74 and are tied for 17th. Sophomore Nick Grigsby also fared well in the first day of competition finishing with a score of 75. Grigsby currently sits in a tie for 26th. Rounding out the Cougar squad is sophomore Austin Hurt who shot a first round total of 79.

The Cougars look to continue their opening round success as the second day of competition begins at 8:30 a.m., Monday at the par-72, 6,834-yard Osprey Point Golf Course.
