PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Washington State University track and field program had 19 individuals and three relays accepted into the preliminary round of the 2016 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships being held May 26-28, at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence.
The Cougar men will have 11 competitors and a relay team earning 14 entries into the meet, while the WSU women have eight competitors and two relays earning 12 entries into the NCAA West Preliminary. The top 48 performers in each individual event and the top-24 relay teams in both relays were accepted to compete at each site (West and East Region) hosting the NCAA Preliminary Rounds for a total of 96 individuals and 48 relays competing nationwide.
Two Cougars competing in the West Prelims have also been accepted into the 24-competitor multi-events at the NCAA Championships in June. Liz Harper will compete in the heptathlon and Dino Dodig will compete in the decathlon.
When competing in the NCAA Preliminary Rounds, the top-12 finishers in each open and relay event will qualify for the national semifinal and final rounds of the 2016 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships scheduled to run June 8-11 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
