PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State newcomers Javin Nash-Harris and Kiana Davis were triple jump winners Friday during the first day of competition at the 13th Annual WSU Open indoor track and field meet at the Indoor Facility in Pullman.
Nash-Harris, a freshman from Seattle, leaped a distance of 47-feet 3/4 inches (14.34m) in his collegiate triple jump debut. Senior PJ Benedictus was the runner-up with a distance of 46-6 (14.17m).
Davis, as sophomore from Longview, Wash., won the women’s triple jump with a personal-best distance of 38-11 3/4 (11.88m). Cougar Kayla Warren took second place with a season-best mark of 38-2 (11.63m).
In the men’s 35-pound weight throw, freshman Brock Eager (Renton, Wash.) was the runner-up with a PR distance of 56-8 (17.27). Sean Burns from the Bigfoot Track Club won the event with a throw of 58-10 3/4 (17.95m).
Angel Rodgers from St. Martin’s College won the women’s weight throw with a throw of 47-1 (14.35m).
The WSU Open indoor meet continues Saturday with running events beginning at 10 a.m.
