WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Four Washington State University football games, two road and two home, have been selected as part of the Pac-12 Conference's early television selections, the conference announced Thursday.
The Cougars will open their 2014 season Thursday, Aug. 28 by hosting Rutgers University in The Seattle Game at CenturyLink Field. The game, the first for Rutgers as a Big Ten Conference member, will be televised by FOX Sports 1 with a 7 p.m. kick. The following week WSU travels to Nevada for a Friday, Sept. 5 game, which will be televised by ESPN with a 7:30 p.m. start.
WSU makes its 2014 Martin Stadium debut Saturday, Sept. 13 against Portland State. That contest will be televised by the Pac-12 Networks with a 5 p.m. start time. The only other Cougar game selected for television during the early announcements was the Stanford game, Friday, Oct. 10 at Stanford. That game will be televised by ESPN with a 6 p.m. kick.
The 2014 Apple Cup will be played Saturday, Nov. 29, at Martin Stadium with time and television selection to be made in mid-November.
While television selections for the first three weeks of the 2014 season have been made, as well as all Thursday and Friday games throughout the season, all remaining television game selections and start times, starting with week four (Saturday, September 20) and running through the final week of the regular season (Saturday, November 29) will be made 12- or six-days in advance.
The television arrangement with ESPN and FOX calls for Pac-12 football to receive full national distribution of each game. ESPN will televise on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or ABC, while FOX will air its games on FOX or FOX Sports 1 and simulcast several games on FOX Deportes. FOX will culminate the 2014 Pac-12 season when it carries the Pac-12 Football Championship Game on Friday, December 5.
