WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Senior Emma Johansson, junior Alison Mand, sophomore Shaya Schaedler, and sophomore Presley Wetterstrom were named to the Pac-12 Conference All-Academic First Team, conference commissioner Larry Scott announced, Wednesday.
The four Cougars head a group of 12 from the Washington State swimming team to garner conference honors, including three earning second team honors and five receiving honorable mention. To be eligible for selection to the all-academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and be a starter or significant contributor.
Johansson was named to the all-academic first team with a 3.71 GPA in general medical sciences. This marks her first-career first team selection, following second team honors in 2013 and honorable mention in 2012. Mand earned her second-consecutive first team selection, owning a 3.92 GPA in digital technology and culture. Schaedler and Wetterstrom each joined the first team ranks as undeclared majors, with GPAs of 3.80 and 3.96, respectively.
Junior Haley Anderson earned her second-consecutive second team selection with a 3.48 GPA (undeclared major). Sophomore Frederikke Hall was also awarded second team status with a 3.49 GPA (undeclared). Loree Olson rounded out the second team roster for WSU. The sophomore owns a 3.65 GPA (undeclared).
Seniors Taylor Indahl (3.01/movement studies), Anne Kenney (3.18/movement studies), and Kelly Tannhauser (3.33/elementary education), and sophomores Shanell Sullenberger (3.33/undeclared) and Kiana Sullenberger (3.29/undeclared), each received honorable mention.
