BANDON, Ore. – The Washington State University men’s golf team concluded play at the Bandon Dunes Championship, Tuesday, at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. The Cougars finished play in a tie for 10th place with host school Gonzaga.

The Cougars carded a 299 (+15) in the final round of play on the par-71 Pacific Dunes Course and finished the tournament 13 strokes back from ninth-place Oregon (+38, 890). Missouri (+11, 863) led the competition throughout the tournament to claim the top spot. Washington’s Jonathan Sanders (-3, 210) garnered the top individual spot.

WSU junior Charlie Mroz shot 225 (+12) in the tournament to lead the Cougars. Mroz finished in 41st place. Senior Jarrett Foote (+13, 226) finished one stroke back from Mroz to tie for 42nd.

“Today was better,” Cougar Head Coach Garrett Clegg said. “Skill wise, we are not where we want to be. I don’t think anyone is happy with the finish that they had, but I’m glad the guys got up and fought for everything after our round yesterday. We played more like ourselves. We came in to this tournament with a lot of confidence, but in the end it was a disappointing week. We have the ASU [Thunderbird] Invitational coming up, and we’ll work some things out.”

Redshirt junior Alex Wagner and junior Michael Anderson led WSU in the final round, each shooting 2-over par (73). Wagner finished the competition tied for 57th. Anderson’s final round moved him into a tie for 59th alongside senior Blake Snyder (+17, 230).

The Cougars will have the upcoming weekend off before returning to competition in Tempe, Ariz., at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational March 21-23.
