Coming off its spring season-opening tournament in Hawaii, the Washington State men's golf team landed at the Burbank, Calif., airport, Feb. 22, for the next tournament on the schedule, the Jones Invitational, hosted by Pepperdine University.
While waiting for their bags, they were approached by a fellow golfer.
Who happened to also be a music legend.
Smokey Robinson was on the same flight and was also waiting for his bags. He saw the team wearing the same Cougar gear and asked who they were. The team, in return, asked if they could get a picture, and below is the result, which was tweeted on the WSU Men's Golf account.
Robinson is an avid golfer himself. Who knows? He may have been headed to the range after picking up his bags at the airport. As this Yahoo! Sports story says, Smokey "has often gone from the airport straight to the range before heading home."
The Cougars return to action March 9-11, as they travel to Bandon, Ore., to compete in the Bandon Dunes Championship hosted by Gonzaga.
