LAST WEEK: The Cougars swept all three matches last week, defeating BYU 4-3, UC Santa Barbara 6-1 and Seattle 4-1. Against BYU, WSU raced to a 3-0 lead before winning the decisive match as Charlotte Koning rallied from 4-2 down in the second set to win 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6, clinching the match. The Cougars had little trouble with UCSB, taking the doubles point and the first five singles matches en route to the win. Against Seattle, the match was halted once WSU clinched the team victory as WSU won the doubles point and the first three singles matches off the court.

LUZINA STILL IN A GROOVE: Junior Elizaveta Luzina continues her fast start to the season, posting a 19-3 overall record and 8-1 mark in dual matches, all at the No. 1 spot. Luzina also started the 2012 season 19-3, though it trails former teammate Liudmila Vasilieva’s 24-1 start to the 2012 campaign. Luzina enters the weekend with 69 career victories and needs seven more to break into WSU’s career top 10 list.
