PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State soccer announced its team awards for 2013 at its end of the year banquet.
The winners were senior Micaela Castain (offense), senior Rachael Doyle (defense), freshman Nicolle Marlow (Coug) and sophomore Cara Wegner (newcomer).
Castain was the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year in 2013 and earned NSCAA All-Pacific Region First Team and All-America Second Team honors. She led the Pac-12 with 33 points (11 goals, 11 assists).
Doyle was named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team and the NSCAA All-Pacific Region Second Team while anchoring a backline that helped the Cougars record a school record 15 shutouts.
Marlow is a native of Renton, Wash., who appeared in five matches off the bench in her first season with the Cougars.
Wegner tied for fifth in the Pac-12 with four game-winning goals. Twice, she received a weekly recognition for her performance.
The Cougars made their fifth NCAA postseason appearance in the last six years. They tied or set 28 school records during a 14-3-4 campaign.
