TUCSON, Ariz. – The Washington State University baseball team is scheduled to play 27 games in 2014 against teams ranked in the Collegiate Baseball preseason poll.
Collegiate Baseball ranks 40 teams prior to the season. The Cougars are slated to open their season at No. 1 Cal State Fullerton for a three-game series. Other nonconference series include a four-game set in Pullman against No. 31 Western Carolina and a pair of games at No. 33 San Diego.
The two games against the Toreros will be part of an eight-game road trip against ranked team. Washington State travels to No. 24 Arizona and No. 15 UCLA for three-game series sandwiched around the meetings in San Diego.
The Cougars will also No. 4 Oregon State and No. 22 Arizona State while traveling to No. 6 Oregon and No. 26 Stanford.
Washington State is among teams receiving votes and will play 16 games against teams among those receiving votes. The Cougars host Texas State for three games in Pullman and BYU for a single game in Pasco. Washington State plays three games against Gonzaga, two in Spokane and one in Pullman.
In Pac-12 play, the Cougars are home against California and USC and tangle with arch rival Washington on the road.
