WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington State University senior Camryn Irwin was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Women’s Volleyball First Team and was joined by two of her WSU teammates on the honorable mention team, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Wednesday.
Irwin, a setter from Brush Prairie, Wash., was one of seven women named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team. She has a 3.88 cumulative grade point average and is majoring in journalism and media production at WSU.
Two Cougars were named to the honorable mention team for the second time in their careers: Chelsey Bettinson, a junior outside hitter from Richland, Wash. with a 3.29 GPA majoring in movement studies, and Shawna Lum, a junior defensive specialist from Westchester, Calif., with a 3.55 GPA majoring in international business.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor. A total of 59 women were selected for the 2013 Pac-12 Volleyball All-Academic teams.
