Washington State Postgame Quotes

Head Coach Mike Leach
On the fumble during the fourth-quarter punt…
"It was a miscommunication. It was bad on our part. It was basically my fault. We had two things going there, and I allowed it to happen. It shouldn't have happened."

On the offense…
"For two-thirds of the game I thought they played really well. For one-third of the game I thought they played about as bad as it's possible to play. We came out storming in the third quarter. Two-thirds of the game we played about as well as we can play. The last third, we faced adversity and waved the white flag. It's inexplicable and we have to change it. It starts with us coaches. We need to get it out of them. You have to play a game 60 minutes, and there's going to be adversity in games. There was adversity in this game. It's not that hard to finish one extra third of the game. The game was right there for us to take and we gave it to them."

On Quarterback Connor Halliday…
"I thought he gave in. We had adversity, and it certainly wasn't just Connor. He played two-thirds of the game real well. If he can play two-thirds of the game, he can do it a full game."

Center Elliot Bosch
On the mentality of the team…
"We had a little adversity and it wasn't anything big, but we just need to learn as a team to not look at the scoreboard. We need to be able to play through adversity."

On the overall game…
"It's really disappointing because it's a game we should have won. We were competing really well. We played really well for two and half quarters. Then it just exploded. It was a landslide. It's frustrating. We need to watch the film. We played well for two and half quarters and we can look at that. We need to learn that being down by a touchdown doesn't mean it's the end of the game. We need to learn to play through some adversity."

Running Back Marcus Mason
On letting the lead slip away…
"We let them win that game. We should have won that game and we should have won it by a lot. It's not anything we are going to be down about. Next week we just need to bounce back. Our minds are on Oregon. Whatever happened, happened."
