PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Washington State University Track and Field throwers will hold their 12th Annual Car Wash Saturday, October 5, at the Birch and Barley parking lot, 1360 SE Bishop Blvd., in Pullman, with all donations given to Family Promise of the Palouse.

The Cougars discus, shot put, hammer and javelin throwers will be washing cars Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., inviting the public to donate to Family Promise of the Palouse to help homeless children and their families in the community.

“After 11 years of great support from Pullman residents and from the surrounding communities, we are proud to have this year’s Cougars throwers’ car wash support Family Promise of the Palouse,” WSU Associate Coach Debra Farwell said. “We are grateful to Birch and Barley owners Josh and Shelly Clark, and their general manager, Jill Bielenberg, for providing the parking lot and water for the car wash.”

The Cougars throwers have raised over $15,000 in the past 11 years and donated the cash to community members in need. Previous car washes have raised money for paralyzed WSU football player Cory Mackay, the Breast Cancer Support Group of the Palouse, several local cancer patients, a transplant recipient, the Pullman Community Action Center and Team Gleason which supports former Cougar football and New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason who is battling ALS (Lou Gerhig’s Disease) through the Gleason Initiative Foundation and the Gleason Family Trust.

Those unable to stop by the car wash can donate by contacting Debra Farwell at 509-335-0260 or through email at debral@wsu.edu. For more information about Family Promise of the Palouse, go to http://familypromisepalouse.org/.
