PULLMAN, Wash. –  Washington State football continued preseason camp with a two-hour practice in full pads in Rogers Field and in Martin Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

The Cougars worked through its regular practice plan of individuals and 1-vs.-1 battles, before going into a couple periods of special teams that focused on punt coverage. Sandwiched in between the two special teams segments, WSU worked through its daily 7-vs.-7 session while the defensive and offensive lines matched up in a running game drill.

The team segment focused on the red zone. Redshirt-junior quarterback Connor Halliday operated the first team offense and opened the day with a touchdown pass over the shoulder and into the hands of junior Isiah Myers in the end zone. Later in the drive, redshirt-sophomore running back Jeremiah Laufasa  took a Halliday pass and plunged over the left side for a touchdown.

A series later, Halliday fired touchdown passes to sophomore Gabe Marks and to redshirt-junior Bobby Ratliff. Redshirt-freshman quarterback Austin Apodaca led the second team offense and experienced similar success. He found senior Vince Mayle behind the defense for an early touchdown pass but was later picked off of senior safety Deone Bucannon who jumped a route to make the play and get a win for the defense. Apodaca later hit Ratliff in traffic who battled his way down to the one yard line before the offense punched it in on the next play.

The final team segment saw the Cougars simulate overtime and started the ball at the 25. Halliday again ran the first team offense and started his final series of the day with a first down completion to freshman River Cracraft. Sophomore running back Teondray Caldwell later capped the series with a short touchdown run.

WSU continues preseason camp Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
