PRAGUE – The Washington State University women’s basketball team continued its 10-day foreign trip through Europe, traveling to Hradec Králové to face the Hradec Králové basketball club.
The team defeated Hradec Králové, 80-66, and were led by sophomore Lia Galdeira with 17 points.
The Cougars will face their third European opponent, Karlove Vary, at 5 p.m. UTC (8 a.m. PST) Wednesday, Aug. 14.
While in Prague, WSU will also have the opportunity to take a boat tour on the Vltava River.
Throughout the Cougars' travels in Europe, seniors Brandi Thomas, Sage Romberg, and Hana Potter will be keeping a players’ blog of their thoughts and activities. Below is an entry from Sage Romberg, recapping the day’s events.
I'm on the bus heading back to the hotel from Game One in Prague. We are all happy about the win against a good team in a much cooler gym!
Today has been great! Prague is a beautiful city packed with a lot of tourists. My mom, Randyn and I woke up at 5:30 this morning to catch the sunrise on Prague's medieval Charles Bridge. During the day it is swarmed with tourists, so it was awesome to see it with just a few people on it and the sunrise was gorgeous!
Later in the morning we all went on a walking tour of the Prague Castle. It reminded me a lot of Hogwarts from Harry Potter! The only thing that could've topped the tour off would've been running into Hermione haha!
Well, it's time for the hardest part of the day; deciding what my nightly treat will be. I'm thinking gelato or a euro churro…or both! :)
