BRATISLAVA, Slovakia – The Washington State University women’s basketball team continued its 10-day foreign trip through Europe, leaving Vienna, Austria and traveling to Bratislava, Slovakia.
While in Bratislava, the team will have the opportunity to visit the Bratislava Castle and Old Town. The Cougars will also face their first European opponent, Levice, at 5 p.m. UTC (8 a.m. PST) Sunday, Aug. 11.
Throughout the Cougars' travels in Europe, seniors Brandi Thomas, Sage Romberg, and Hana Potter will be keeping a players’ blog of their thoughts and activities. Below is an entry from Sage Romberg, recapping the day’s events.
“Hello from Bratislava!
We said goodbye to Vienna and took an hour-long bus ride to Bratislava this morning. Bratislava Castle was our first stop when we got to the city. It was beautiful and overlooked the Danube River.
After checking into our hotel, we walked around the winding cobblestone streets and I accidentally almost walked into a wedding ceremony. There are ice cream shops on practically every corner, so obviously I love the area. Despite being full from ice cream, my mom and I had a delicious dinner of traditional goulash while listening to live music and endless amounts of people watching.
Our first game is tomorrow, which we are all excited for! That's all for now... I think I'll go have some more ice cream :)”
