VIENNA – The Washington State University women’s basketball team embarked Tuesday on a 10-day foreign trip to Austria, Slovakia and Czech Republic.
The team left Pullman for Spokane, Wash. and flew through Salt Lake City and Paris, before arriving in Vienna, Austria Aug. 7.
While in Vienna, the team will have the opportunity to visit numerous landmarks, including Schonbrunn Palace, The Hofburg, Prater Amusement Park, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral.
Throughout the Cougars' travels in Europe, seniors Brandi Thomas, Sage Romberg, and Hana Potter will be keeping a players’ blog of their thoughts and activities. Below are the first entries from all three seniors.
"I'm excited to be in Vienna with the team and rest of the crew, including my mom! Unfortunately I didn't get very much sleep on the plane so I'm off to bed to get some rest before a full day of exploring Vienna tomorrow."
"It's been a long day, but we are OFFICIALLY in Vienna! That nine-hour flight definitely consisted of many, many movies. We just had our first Austrian meal tonight and a few of the girls had chicken schnitzel! I am so glad to finally be here after a long day of travel and can't wait for a fun week ahead with some awesome people!"
"Today is the first day of our foreign trip to Europe! I am so thankful and feel so fortunate to be apart of this experience. What better way to start senior year? I also am lucky enough not only to enjoy this trip with my teammates and Cougar family, but also my mom, Meredith Lindley, and my step-dad, John Lindley! I cannot wait to see them once we arrive! We have a great itinerary planned out for these next 10 days. We will have the opportunity to sight see in three different countries - Austria, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic! We have been working very hard everyday in practice preparing for this trip and the time has finally come! I can't express how excited I am for these next 10 days! An opportunity to see a different part of the world, a chance to see and experience a new culture/lifestyle, and the fact that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am going to soak up every single second of it!"
