PULLMAN, Wash. - Each of Oregon's nine starters recorded at least one hit and the No. 6 Ducks defeated host Washington State 6-3 in Pac-12 Conference baseball, Saturday at Bailey-Brayton Field.

The Ducks (36-11, 18-5 Pac-12) and Cougars (20-22, 7-13 Pac-12) both scored in each of the first-three innings and Oregon led 4-3 after three.

Washington State's runs came on a sacrifice fly by Brett Jacobs in the first, an Oregon error in the second and a Patrick McGrath sacrifice fly in the third.

Cole Irvin (9-2) went seven innings to earn the victory for Oregon while Scott Simon (3-2) went 7 1/3, but suffered the loss for the Cougars. Jimmie Sherfy worked the ninth for his 16th save.

"Oregon's bullpen is really good," Washington State Head Coach Donnie Marbut said. "If you fall behind early, it is really tough to come back."

The series concludes, Sunday with first pitch scheduled for noon. It is scheduled to be the final game in Pullman this season. The Cougars will play their last-four home games in Pasco.
