Aron Baynes has appeared in 16 games for the Spurs this season.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Former Washington State University men's basketball standouts Klay Thompson will share a court once again as their respective teams, the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors, faceoff in the NBA Western Conference Semifinals in a best-of-seven series that begins Monday at San Antonio's AT&T Center.

Baynes (Cairns, Australia) and Thompson (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) played together during the 2008-09 season, Baynes' senior year and Thompson's freshman season. The center and the guard have another link, they became the 30th and 31st Cougars to score 1,000 career points. Baynes accomplished the feat March 7, 2009 against Washington, while Thompson got his 1,000th point almost exactly a year later, March 6, 2010, at Oregon. Baynes finished his career with 1,064 points and ranks 25th on WSU's career scoring list, while Thompson is third with 1,756 career points.

"It was exciting to turn on my TV and watch Aron Baynes play a part in beating the Lakers in the playoffs," WSU Head Coach Ken Bone said. "It's also been fun watching Klay play well with the Warriors these past two seasons. It will be neat to see the two Cougs go head-to-head in the conference semifinals."

Thompson is in his second season with the Warriors, as they selected him as the 11th overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft. He started all 82 games he played this season and 111 of 148 in his career. This season he's averaging 16.6 points per game and 14.7 ppg in the Warriors' six playoff games.

Baynes signed with the Spurs, Jan. 23, 2013, and has appeared in 16 games with the team. In the Spurs' last outing, Baynes got his first career start in their game four playoff victory over the Lakers. He's averaging 2.0 points and 8.8 minutes per game, adding 2.0 rebounds.

The game between the Spurs and the Warriors tips off at 6:30 p.m. PT and can be seen on TNT.
